Journey to Mt. Slamet

Mount Slamet or Gunung Slamet is an active stratovolcano in the Purbalingga Regency of Central Java, Indonesia. It has a cluster of around three dozens of cinder cone on the lower southeast-northeast flanks and a single cinder cone on the western flank. The volcano is composed by two overlapping edifices. Four creater are found at the summit. Historical eruptions have been recorded since the eighteenth century. Gunung Slamat was closed to climbers for much of 2010 and 2011 but was opened in late 2011. A large number of climbers were expected to visit to peak on New Year's Eve 2012 to celebrate the new year cr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Slamet  (Wikipedia) well, luckly i've ever been climbing there(mount slamet) no i mean mountaineering. it's six month ago maybe i dont remember.

 this photo has taken on the top of mountain slamet. unfortunately that day we had bad weather so it become fog everywhere. as you can see mount slamet has 3428 meter below sea level and mount slamet was 2nd of the highest mountain in java (Indonesia). well imkind of shock cause i have been through there and strugling in that mount haha. anyway, i'll be introduce and some tips and my experience too at mountain slamet. (y) in September 2014, mount slamet had eruption this is the second eruption after 2009. mount slamet doesn't have kind eruption like mount krakatau http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krakatoa which have been made dust and fog and red clouds in europe at that time. do you know The Scream? the painter has made this paint cause someone scream about the change of weather in 1893 on norwegia. you know that in 1893 krakatau has eruption or like mount

mount slamet has really lower level of eruption around volcano mountains in Indonesia so why mount slamet called "slamet" it means "safe".but the level of eruption can be incrase by the time it means maybe in the future mount slamet can be have eruption like krakatau did. some local people said that mount slamet can split between west java and east java cause it happened because of the emergence of a large fracture that extends from north to south. Each region will then be shifted and away from each other. that's terrible right?

my university is near to slamet mount it called Jenderal Soedirman University (cr or cr) and i had hiking three mounts there was Sumbing mount , semeru mount and slamet mount. so i had a chance to hiking there

there is 3 tracks on slamet mount, batu raden near Purwokerto, bambangan (Purbalingga) and Kali Wedas near Tegal. but you should choose track 2 (bambangan) cause bambangan was the official track to hiking slamet mountain so it will be safety. as you see there is 5 post on pict but in reality there is 8 or 9 post on bambangan track. if you want to go to bambangan you must go to purbalingga (central java)

you should not hiking on november-januari cause it's rainy season. why can't i go? cause slamet mountain is lush mountain there is so much tree and will be slippy and of course cold haha. i was hiking on may but is rainy :( so slippy huhu. oke forget that, so you must register your id/self, how long you will be hiking and manymore to basecamp cause it will be help you if you lost on the mountain. after that you ready to hiking slamet mountain. 

if you start to go to post 1 you will see this gate near the base camp it means "gate of mountaineering slamet mountain" "post of bambangan, purbalingga city". after you cross the gate you will see cabbage farm on your right side and a river on the left side. i don't know exactly how far bambangan to post 1 but i think it's pretty far hehe

this is post 1, as you can see is like house right? you can laying around on that post surely. there is so much space in this post. on that time i take shelter 3 hours in this post cause of heavy rain. hmm in my opinion the distance of post 1 to post 2 and post 2 to post 3 is very very loooooong maybe post 2 and post 3 there is no more house just like large ramp with sign post and big three everywhere, done. ah you should wear long pants and clean up your meal cause there is a monkey, wild boar and leech everywhereeee. it's getting darker when i get to post 4 and post 5 because i got stuck on post 1 so there is so much delay in our plan. another tips! you shouldn't camp on post of samaranthu (post 4/5 i don't remember) the people said in that post is place of ghost, well i heard from my friend in slamet mountain there is some people was hiking in the night and suddenly there is pocong  (you can search on google) falling in front of the track, creepy right? haha well fortunately i didn't see them on my journey hahaha alhamdulillah. well the track to post 4 to 5 it will be like drainage culvert small, wet, slippy and dark because it's already dark when i go to this post and i already so tired cause we must camp on post 5 and we never get a camp before. it's really tiring sad tired combine on my body i almost cry i always sighing while we walk on track really really tiring the best tiring journey i think haha

so this is post fiveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! finally huhah! i get thereeee on the midnight i think im really happy when my friends tell "we get on post 5!" when my feet touch the post i feel really relieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve and the scenery just beautifull we can see the central java like star so bling bling ah just majestic from this post :).

so i sit on the ground and yelling to the star that i really thankfully for god who made this beauty scenery and i tell to my friends that i almost crying then i just laying like a dead wood around 15 minutes after that we make a meal, set up the camp because we must get up early to chase the peak in the morning well it become heavy rain when we finish setting the camp then we sleep in this post. in the morning we make a meal and just continue to next post and we just bring one backpack that contains some food and water. post 6. the post that the limit of gravel ground and forest ground. well when we get to the post 7 it becomes more slippy cause there is no big rock like post 6 to post 7 so you must be carefull when you get to this post and i almost cry too when i see my friend who stand in front of me, we'll see the track is around 60 degree so i my head must really looked up. then i get it...
